February 21, 2019 -- Talcott Mountain Academy Student Wins National Volunteer Award | Anishka Perera, 13, was selected as Connecticut's top middle school youth volunteer of 2019 by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards -- a nationwide program honoring young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism. Perera was awarded the prize for helping pediatric oncology patients in Sri Lanka.

September 6, 2018 -- Talcott Mountain Academy Students Selected as Two of the Top 300 Young Scientists in the US, | Broadcom Foundation and Society for Science & the Public announced that Julian Kage and Emma Ruccio, who are both 2018 graduates of Talcott Mountain Academy in Avon, are among the Top 300 competitors in the 8th annual Broadcom MASTERS®

May 2, 2018 -- TMA Students Receive Awards at Connecticut Invention Convention; Move On to National Competition | Six students from Talcott Mountain Academy (TMA) received awards at the 2018 Connecticut Invention Convention Annual State Finals (CIC) this past weekend -- including five who were selected to advance to the National Invention Convention & Entrepreneurship Expo (NICEE) in Dearborn, MI, May 31–June 2.

December 20, 2017 -- Scanning the Night Skies Talcott Mountain Science Academy, Dan Amarante, Fox61 | At the Talcott Mountain Science Academy, a group of students meet once a week to take some unbelievable photos of the universe around us. 

June 2017 -- Academy students learn from legends in their fields, Valley Life Dr. Henry Lee and world-renowned primatologist Jane Goodall are just a couple of the presenters who have inspired students through visits and presentations at Talcott Mountain Academy.

March 23, 2017 -- Talcott Mountain Academy Takes First Place in Science Competition, Valley Press | Last month, a team of four students from Talcott Mountain Academy finished first place in the Regional Middle School Science Bowl. This finish marks the second consecutive year the school has taken first place in the competition, distinguishing it as the only school in Connecticut to have accomplished such a feat. 

March 20, 2017 -- Connecticut Student Writers Magazine Honors Six Talcott Mountain Academy Students | Six students from Talcott Mountain Academy (TMA) were selected from more than 1,500 submissions to be recognized in the 2017 Connecticut Student Writers (CSW) Magazine. 

March 9, 2017 -- Talcott Mountain Academy wins Connecticut Science Bowl, Fox61 | Talcott Mountain Academy in Avon took the trophy in Connecticut as winners of the Regional Middle School Science Bowl recently. It is their second Connecticut title in a row, and the focus now is on the National Championship.

May 13, 2016 -- 55 Connecticut Students to Compete in National Invention Convention, NBC Connecticut | Next week, 55 Connecticut students will travel to Washington, D.C. to compete at the National Invention Convention and Entrepreneurship Expo. Among the 200 students from 15 states heading to D.C. are three local students from Talcott Mountain Academy.

May 9, 2016 -- Students View Mercury Transit at Talcott Mountain Science Center, NBC Connecticut | Students at the Talcott Mountain Science Center in Avon took their telescopes out to watch Mercury ending its journey across the sun.

May 5, 2016 -- TMA Student Wins at CT History Day; Qualifies for National History Day Competition in June | Eighth grade student Lillian Steinmayer from Talcott Mountain Academy (TMA) won 2nd place Junior Perofrmance this past weekend at Connecticut History Day. Her finish qualifies her to compete at the National History Day competition, which will take place June 12 through June 16 at the University of Maryland, College Park.

May 5, 2016 -- TMA Students Shine at 2016 CT Invention Convention; Move on the Nationals | Six students from Talcott Mountain Academy (TMA) won awards at teh Connecticut Invention Convention on Saturday, April 30, including three who were selected to advance to the National Invention Convention  & Entrepreneurship Expo (NICEE) in Alexandria, Va., May 19-21.

April 11, 2016 -- Middle School Students vs. JAX Scientists in Science Bowl Scrimmage, by Joyce Peterson | Punching above their weight, middle school students from the science- and math-focused Talcott Mountain Academy of Avon, Conn., won a practice science bowl scrimmage at The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) on April 7, against JAX researchers and other staff with advanced degrees.

March 21, 2016 -- Talcott Mountain Academy Students Receive Awards at 2016 CT Science & Engineering Fair | On Saturday, March 19th, three students from Talcott Mountain Academy (TMA) received Special Awards at the Connecticut Science & Engineering Fair (CSEF). 

February 29, 2016 -- Talcott Mountain Academy Takes First Place in Regional Science Competition | A team from Talcott Mountain Academy comprised of four students in grades 6-8 won first place at the Middle School Regional Science Bowl Competition. The team will move on to the national competition, which will take place in Washington, DC in May.

February 10, 2016 -- Talcott Mountain Academy Student Takes Top Honors at Local Math Competition | Aresh Pourkavoos from Talcott Mountain Academy was recognized as the top individual overall at the 2016 Hartford Chapter MATHCOUNTS competition.
