Landscapes of the CoastConnecticut has a quiet, indented coast. Because of the protection
provided by Long Island, the coast here is calm and leisurely.
Except for during winter storms and hurricanes, the many coves
and inlets give Connecticut an abundance of secure harbors. This
view looks west down the indented coast from the jetties at the
mouth of the Connecticut River towards New Haven. The faint
wave trace extending out from the far jetty marks the contact
between the waters of the river and those of the Sound.
