Kate Adams

Kate is a healthcare strategist with leadership experience in marketing products and services.  Her current endeavor is bringing diagnostics commercialization experience to The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in Farmington, CT, helping that group apply its cutting-edge genomic knowledge and technology to new challenges in the clinical setting.

As a results-driven and organized professional, she generates and initiates progressive and innovative marketing, sales, and program improvement techniques to drive growth.  Adept at identifying and acquiring significant new opportunities and enhancing existing programs, Kate has established a track record of launching quality products and programs, based on market and trend analyses and client requirements.  She has led interdisciplinary teams, managed license deals and alliances, and held divisional profit and loss responsibility at a variety of firms, large and small, including biotech, pharma and diagnostics companies like HistoRx, Quest Diagnostics, Parke-Davis and Genetics Institute, and Schering-Plough.

Kate previously sat on the Board of Directors of Enterix, a company developing diagnostic products.  Named by Quest Diagnostics, a minority owner of the firm, to advise the Company and its Board on topics related to market dynamics, new product launch and direct-to-patient promotional strategies, she also contributed to all general management decisions at the Board level for a three-year period.

Kate is inspired by the Talcott Mountain Academy staff’s ability to transmit their own enthusiasm for science, math and the deep exploration of various concepts and issues to the students they teach; she is eager to use her marketing and communications skills to ensure that TMA can reach the parents, prospective students and other key audiences that will extend the institutions capabilities into the next generation.

A Connecticut native, Kate earned a Bachelor’s in Biology and Philosophy at Bryn Mawr College, and a Master’s in Public and Private Management from the Yale School of Management.   She is married with two daughters; her older daughter is a 2013 graduate of Talcott Mountain Academy, and her husband is a former co-president of the TMA Parent Support Group.
